Monday 15 July

The Future Cities Exhibition

Where: OBA Library of Amsterdam, Oosterdokskade 143, 1011 DL

Future Cities is an acclaimed multimedia exhibition centred around five of the worlds fastest growing cities: Kinshasa, Lima, Yangon, Medellín and Addis Ababa. The entire world is changing faster than we can comprehend; economically, technologically, socially and culturally. Every day, 200,000 people start a new life in the city, and as a result new cities are growing at an exponential rate… without us even noticing. The Future Cities exhibition transports you to the new generation of cities outside the West. The cities that could soon be leading the way in everything from fashion, to economics, to cultural trends. Instead of focusing on the problems developing cities face, Future Cities aims to highlight the unique factors that established cities may lack, as well as the strength and individuality of their people. “Hear the city. Meet the people. Feel the energy.”

To celebrate their reconciliation, as well as the 10th anniversary of their landmark album Music For Men, they will be playing two shows at Paradiso on both Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Front woman and full-time Queen Beth Ditto truly rocks a stage like no one else, so you’d be a fool not to grab your chance to see her in action for the first time in years! Missing this one would be “heavy cross” to bear…
